Dental Bridges Boise, ID

Dental bridge being placed diagram at Water's Edge Dental in Boise, ID.Dental bridges are dental appliances that become affixed permanently so that there are no gaps from where a tooth or teeth used to be. There may be more than one piece involved in the fusing so that the bridge fits snugly in place.

This is what you can expect from our dentists after you schedule your bridge appointment with Water's Edge Dental. As a great alternative to a partial denture, the bridge restoration is able to provide functionality and beauty while allowing you to speak and eat normally and enhancing the appearance of your teeth.

There are several materials that can be used for a dental bridge such as porcelain, gold, and alloy. If a bridge is fixed to a tooth in the front, then porcelain will likely be used due to it matching the natural white color of the tooth.

Obtaining the Bridge

Out of all of the available dental bridge types, the Maryland bridge will not need as many dental visits to perform. This is because there is no need to prepare abutments.

However, the other dental bridge types will need more than one dental appointment. Nevertheless, you can rest assured that the type of bridge used will be exactly the same you need for the teeth and the dental lab will ensure that it aligns perfectly after creation.

The Traditional Bridge

As you get a traditional dental bridge, it will first need to have abutment teeth prepared. This will be done when the dentist takes off a little bit of dentin and enamel so the crowns will have space.

Next, a makeshift bridge is affixed to provide protection before the placement of the actual bridge is attached. At a future dental visit, a check of the temporary will be performed and then removed.

The bridge will then be fitted and cemented permanently to the crowns. The dentist may decide to cement it temporarily so that you can adjust to the feel and if you have any difficulties develop.

The Maryland Bridge

For the Maryland bridge, it only requires some cutting into the abutment so that the bridge wings will be bonded. After it is tested for fitting, the bridge will be placed and the wings will be bonded using a resin, which will then be cured.

The Implant Bridge

A bridge that is supported by an implant is always completed in a surgical setting in order to be properly attached. This type of bridge is also referred to as an implant supported denture. This procedure will also need healing time, which will depend on the location of the implants as well as if the jaw will require additional support for the bridge implant.

A temporary bridge may be placed as you wait for your second appointment.
In the second procedure, the dentist will attach your permanent implant bridge, which will require tiny gum incisions and the need for more time to heal.

Knowing if a Dental Bridge is Right for You

If you are contemplating a dental bridge, then you will need to know if it will be right for you. Many prerequisites surrounding one will need to be met beforehand.

A few of these will involve whether you have teeth that are missing. Or, even if you have teeth that are healthy, are good support for the bridge.
