Most people are prepared for every eventuality, but they never think that experiencing a dental problem while on vacation, can ruin everything. If you're planning to go on a trip into the wilderness and want to be ready, we will give you some tips about what you should have in a dental emergency kit.

Over-the-Counter Medications

When tooth pain hits you, one of the best things you can do is take some Ibuprofen, Tylenol, Advil, or Motrin. Make sure you have enough of your favorite go-to pain killer handy. Including some topical anesthetic, such as Orajel, is also a good thing to have because it can help numb the affected area.

Gum or A Temporary Filling

If you've had a lot of cavities in your life, there's always a possibility that one of them may become loose and that can cause the nerve to get exposed. It can be extremely painful when eating or with air temperature changes.

Sugar-free gum or a temporary filling can be placed over the missing filling, but it needs to be replaced frequently until you can come see our dentist.

Salt
A must that you should have in any dental emergency kit. If you're going camping, you're probably bringing salt to cook, but it can be also used to make salt water you can swish in your mouth to prevent an infection. To make salt water, use a teaspoon of salt and dissolve in a cup of warm water. Rinse your mouth several times a day.

If you have never thought about what you should have in a dental emergency kit, these tips will help you be prepared.
